Colouring Grey Hair

How do I control the colour?

When your hair reaches the shade you desire, which is usually within two or three weeks use Silver Check less often. Most people find that once or twice a week is sufficient to maintain the colour.

Depending upon your hair type and the colour you desire, you may find you need to apply Silver Check more often or less frequently than this.

How often should I shampoo?

When first using Silver Check we recommend that you shampoo only once or twice a week using a mild shampoo. (We recommend Silver Check Mild and Gentle Shampoo.) This allows Silver Check to really start working for you. After you reach the colour you desire, you may shampoo as often as you wish.

When will I see results?

It usually takes two to three weeks. There is no sudden change. Your friends will only notice how much younger you look.

The thickness and texture of your hair will influence the colouring process: the more porous your hair, the faster Silver Check will work. If your hair is less porous, the process will be slower and you may have to use Silver Check daily for a little longer.

In fact, some Silver Check customers need more than one bottle to achieve results. However, once you have reached the colour you wish, Silver Check need only be applied once or twice a week to cover the new hair growth.

Can I blow-dry my hair?

Yes, you can blow-dry your hair; in fact, this may speed up the colouring process during colder months.

Can I use other hair products with Silver Check?

No. - Do not use any styling products such as hair gel; hair mouse; hair spray or wax. These products may build up or coat your hair follicle making it difficult for the Silver Check to work.

Once your hair has achieved the desired colour you may resume using your normal products, however you must ensure you wash your hair well before repeat applications of Silver Check.

Can I keep some grey?

Yes - some customers prefer to keep some grey hairs - blending them in naturally. To achieve this, DO NOT apply Silver Check to any area you want to keep grey. Comb your hair normally so the colours blend naturally together.

Will Silver Check wash off or run?

No - Silver Check is permanent and colorfast. Only bleaching will remove it. It will not colour skin or clothes - only hair.

Will a grey parting reappear?

No, ? because when you use Silver Check regularly you colour the hair as it grows in from the roots.

Should I use a rinse or tint as well as using Silver Check?

No - you should not use any hair dyes in conjunction with Silver Check, as this may hinder the colouring process.

What if I have previously been dyeing or tinting my hair?

Please ensure that you have washed your hair three to four times before you commence using Silver Check.

Silver Check can be used on previously treated hair to colour the grey roots.

Silver check only works to colour grey hair, it will not change the colour of previously coloured hair.

Does Silver Check help the hair condition?

Yes - Silver Check contains a built in conditioner. Regular use helps keep the scalp free from dandruff and stops the hair from becoming too dry.

What is the secret of Silver Check^®?

Silver Check^® colours grey hair gradually. It works slowly over two or three weeks to return natural looking colour to the hair. It gradually colours grey or white hair a golden brown, then, day by day a medium brown then dark brown to black if desired.

How does Silver Check Grey Hair Colour work?

Greyness is simply a lack of natural pigment. Silver Check^® counteracts the effect of pigment starvation in the cortex of the hair. It works with the hair's natural chemicals to create a natural looking colour.

Silver Check^® is not a dye. With Silver Check^®, hair gradually develops the same rich blends of highlights and shades found in natural human hair.

Will Silver Check^® work on any colour hair?

Yes! And you don't need a colour chart! You control the colour whether you're blond, brunette or dark.

Is Silver Check^® a hair dye?

No - Silver Check works with the natural texture of your hair to gradually bring the colour back to your hair.

Will Silver Check grow hair?

Unfortunately, nothing will do this, however Silver Check will make thin hair look thicker as the colour gradually returns to it.

Will frequent swimming or showering affect the results?

As Silver Check is a leave on colour treatment, frequent swimming or showering will wash Silver Check from the hair and slow the colouring process, in this case you may need more frequent applications, say twice a day.

Can I use a Perm while using Silver Check?

Yes - we recommend only using a perm containing a "Sodium Bromate" based neutralizer - developed for used in conjunction with coloured treated. Other brands have neutralizers containing hydrogen peroxide, which strip the colour from your hair.

Will Silver Check affect my jewellery?

Silver Check contains a small amount of sulphur, which can discolor some types of metals. Avoid contact with jewellery however, if tarnishing does occur, simply use a commercial metal cleaner.

Is Silver Check safe?

Yes - perfectly safe when it is used as directed. Silver Check meets all the requirements of the Australian NH & MRC and the USA Food and Drug Administration.
